Local musician releases album

After several years in the making, Fountain Hills singer/songwriter Dave Clark is releasing his album, “Rock City.”
Known for performing throughout the Valley, including Fountain Hills, Clark is a multi-instrumentalist, as well as vocalist.
“Rock City” features 11 tracks representing the best of Clark’s songwriting catalog. He says the “feel good” songs harken back to the “‘80s MTV hard rock” era with a modern twist.
On “Rock City,” Clark handles all vocal duties, most guitars, bass and keyboards. Engineer Kolby Peoples lends his expert guitar licks on several tracks and guest drummers include Mark Savale (formerly Co-Op), session extraordinaire J.B. Kocis and drumming legend, Jimmy Clark (formerly Joan Jett, Debbie Harry, Demolition 23).
“When I perform throughout the Phoenix valley, including many local performances at places such as Phil’s Filling Station, Saddle Bronc and Euro Pizza, I tend to play mostly cover songs; songs people know and enjoy,” Clark said. “Of course, it’s fun playing songs by The Beatles, Eagles, Billy Joel, Alice Cooper and other artists because these were the songs I grew up listening to. But having a chance to finally record 11 of my own songs, written straight from the heart, has been incredibly satisfying. And the response I’ve gotten to these songs so far has been extremely positive.”
The former Cleveland, Ohio-area based musician performed with rock outfits Baby Blue, Dreamer, Dia Pason and Rough House before embarking on a solo career in the early 1990s. “Rock City” is a snapshot of stories real and imagined that make up the soundtrack of Clark’s life.
Songs of inspiration such as “Will to Survive” and “Light Up the Sky” complement songs about life and love such as “Dreamin,” “Make Me Laugh” and “Lonely No More.” Reviews of the album have called the 11 original tracks on “Rock City” “instantly memorable,” Clark said.
Besides being an all-purpose musician, Clark is an avid craft beer connoisseur and author. Being one of just two master-level beer judges in Arizona, Clark recently completed work on his debut book entitled “Phoenix Beer: A History Rising to New Peaks.” The book is set to release Nov. 25, by Arcadia Publishing.
“It’s been a busy, yet extremely productive year,” said Clark. “Playing music, writing and enjoying craft beer are all things that are very close to my heart and that’s what life is all about; doing the things you love.”
